GamesTheShop

In-House E-commerce Platform for India's Largest Gaming Retailer

A custom, end-to-end commerce platform built from scratch — Python, Node.js, Next.js — engineered for AAA launch-day traffic, multi-platform pre-orders and secure payments. No off-the-shelf storefront.

Overview

GamesTheShop is India's largest omnichannel gaming retailer. We designed and developed their entire commerce platform in-house — storefront, catalog, pre-order engine, payments and order pipeline — rather than forcing it onto an off-the-shelf SaaS that buckles under launch-day load.

The Challenge

The previous store collapsed during major launch events. The new platform had to absorb 48,000+ concurrent users on Day-1 launches, run simultaneous pre-orders across PC, PS5, Xbox and Switch SKUs, integrate four payment gateways, and protect payment and account data to a high security bar.

The Solution

We built the platform from scratch: a Next.js storefront, Python and Node.js services, an event-driven order and pre-order pipeline, Redis-backed inventory and queues, and PCI-aware payment integration across Razorpay, PayU, UPI and COD. End-to-end CI/CD with security hardening — WAF, rate limiting, secrets management, and CDN edge caching — keeps it fast and resilient under spikes.

The Outcome

Absorbed 48,000 concurrent users during a marquee pre-order launch, cut page-load from 4.2s to 1.1s, lifted conversion 34%, and held zero downtime on launch days.

48,000 concurrent users · 1.1s page load · 34% conversion lift

Highlights

  • Built entirely in-house — no Shopify, no off-the-shelf SaaS
  • 48,000 concurrent users with zero launch-day downtime
  • Security-hardened pipeline: WAF, rate limiting, PCI-aware payments
